Rand-Asia Trade Finance emerged from the need to provide a superlative trade and commodity finance service to the South African Market.
We are fast becoming a respected international trade financier in the field of Afro-Sino trade, having combined the skills of an experienced management team with the infrastructure and support of one of the world's top emerging banking corporations.
Our affiliation with China Construction Bank Corporation through their shareholding in Rand-Asia, affords us a unique ability to foster and support trade finance between Africa and the People's Republic of China by combining our in-depth understanding of African risk with our partner's extensive presence in the Asian market.
The company was founded by a management team that has vast experience in the field of structured trade and commodity finance. This team continues to attract new high calibre people and business partners as it grows and expands its service.
Rand-Asia was established in November 2000 and has, through its structured solutions, support, provision and administration, developed as a leading trade and commodity financier.

minerals, makes this an important aspect of our portfolio. We have experience in financing a range of products such as cobalt and titanium; base metals including copper, tin and zinc; noble alloys such as tantalite, vanadium and zircon also ferro-chrome, ferro-manganese, metallurgical coke and precious metals where there is an industrial application.
Grains, proteins and pulses. Rand-Asia has developed industry leading structures for the financing of South African wheat and maize. We continue to adapt our structures to the ever changing face of agri-business. We have strong cross border experience and have actively financed wheat, maize and related products, rice and animal feeds as well as various humanitarian aid related contracts. « Back
Palm, edible oils and oil seeds. Our affiliation with global vegetable oil traders has made us a leading financier in the South African vegetable oils market. Products financed include palm oil, sunflower, canola, soya, oleo resins and tallow. « Back
Fruit and tropical commodities. Rand-Asia has successfully financed fresh fruit, fruit concentrates and wine from South Africa. In collaboration with our international banking partners we are able to structure financing for coffee, tea, cocoa and other tropical products. « Back
Chemicals and plastics. We have expertise in financing chemicals and plastics for industrial, mining, agriculture and manufacturing use. « Back
Petroleum. Rand-Asia has experience in structuring transactions in the hydrocarbon sector, in collaboration with refineries and parastatals in various markets. This includes finance of bulk crude oil, refined petroleum products and petroleum bi-products. « Back
Trade finance
Trade finance is an important aspect of our business. This is largely because of our alliance with China Construction Bank Corporation, which has opened the People's Republic of China as a procurement market of goods.
As such we are experienced in financing a range of products in a variety of sectors such as:

Syndication
One of our key objectives is to continualy develop our knowledge of new markets, in addition to sharing our experience of the markets in which we operate with other financial institutions.
Rand-Asia’s participation in the risk and funding of deals, structured by other financial institutions, has enabled us to build a network of diverse financiers operating in a broad band of varied markets.
It is this network of syndication partners that affords us access to most international markets, with a srong emphasis on African risk, which complements our skills in Asia.
Project Finance
The structuring of Trade Finance solutions for capital projects is a related service that we provide. This service encompasses the structuring of term loans, which uses the trade flow proceeds emanating from the business, to service the original loan. Projects that we have financed to date include the rehabilitation of infrastructure in the petroleum sector and stock-pile sites / tailings and factories processing primary commodities into finished goods.
